Truck vs Train

Four men trying to push a stolen pickup truck across open train tracks with the aid of wooden planks learned Wednesday morning why most people use those handy railroad crossings. No one was injured. The truck slipped off the planks, got stuck and the men ran as a Florida East Coast Railway freight train smashed the red 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. No one was hurt in the ensuing crash, but the incident damaged the FEC freight, police said. The men stole the truck from the Hollywood driveway of Paula Andrea Herrera on June 25, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office. Herrera saw four men in the late 20s drive off with the Silverado, and she didn’t hear anything about the truck until Wednesday morning. It is unclear why the four men felt they needed to traverse the tracks between crossings, said Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Liz Calzadilla-Fiallo.
