At least three people were dead and seven others injured after a fire broke out Wednesday in a central Bangkok hotel in a popular shopping district.
The fire, which started shortly before 6pm (1100 GMT) in a document storage room on the eighth floor of the Centara Grand Hotel, led at least two people to jump from the hotel, Khaosod English news service reported, citing a local police chief.
One person died at the scene, the report said. Two others died at hospital, Bangkok Governor Aswin Kwangmuang told reporters.
Large flames and thick smoke could be seen coming out of the building on videos and images posted on social media.
The hotel is located next to CentralWorld shopping mall, and both buildings were evacuated after the fire broke out.
The blaze was brought under control within half an hour, according to the hotel group’s public relations department.
