Teen killed in truck, go-cart wreck

A 15-year-old boy died Thursday night after being struck by a pickup while riding his go-cart. Jordan Christopher Henshaw was driving a five-horsepower go-cart down a driveway off Kennon Road around 5:30 when he was hit by a 1994 Ford Ranger traveling north, said Virginia State Police Trooper M.S. Austin.

The driver of the truck was Gregory Seay, a Mineral resident.

“Jordan just came out in front of him and was struck,” Austin said, adding that Seay was not charged.

“Mr. Seay was not at fault in this accident,” Austin said.

Henshaw was with a friend, Brandon Perrin. Perrin was standing in the driveway when Henshaw was hit and was uninjured, Austin said.

The Mineral Rescue Squad, Mineral Fire Department, Louisa County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia State Police responded to the scene.

The fire department performed CPR on Henshaw before he was taken by ambulance to a helicopter landing zone in Mineral, said Lewis Keller, president of the Mineral Fire Department.

Henshaw was pronounced dead at the landing zone, Keller added.
