An errant bullet from a nearby firing range may have set off a grass fire Saturday afternoon that smoldered on about 200 acres east of Colorado Springs before firefighters contained it several hours later.
The blaze was reported about 12:25 p.m. north of Highway 94 in the 1200 block of Dragonman Drive at Dragonman’s shooting range, said Ed Corn, retired fire chief for Ellicott Fire Department.
The fire was fully contained by late afternoon. Crews remained at the site of the fire at 4 p.m., Corn said.
According to the Ellicott Fire Protection District, the blaze was set off by a bullet fired into a grass field from Dragonman’s gun range, KRDO reported.
