Philly firefighter’s body escorted home after he passed competing in triathlon

The body of a Philadelphia firefighter was escorted home by New Jersey firefighters after he died during a triathlon on Sunday.

Philadelphia firefighter Dennis McDaniels drowned following a medical emergency during the swim portion of the Escape the Cape Triathlon and was pronounced dead following resuscitation attempts and evacuation to a nearby hospital.

According to NJ 101.5, firefighters from several New Jersey agencies escorted McDaniels back to Philly, including personnel from Washington Township, Gloucester Township, Deptford, Somers Point, Ocean City, Margate, Linwood and Cape May.
