Ho, Ho Holy cow, that’s a red guy in a sled with a deer!

Such was the case in Oregon recently, when a red-suited rescuer on a sled saved a deer who fell through the ice on a golf course pond.

After the poor deer fell into the frozen pond, firefighter Jeff Johnson -known as “JJ” to locals- donned a bright red drysuit and used a rescue sled to push the deer to safety.

According to the Daily Mail, Johnson was something of a “deer whisperer,” keeping the animal calm as it struggled to get to solid ground.

“JJ was talking to it the whole time,” said Tammie Waters, office manager for the Sunriver Fire Department. “The deer played along pretty good.”

While the sled has never been used to save people, at least it has now been tested- and hopefully will never be used again.

“It was a great way to get training, and rescue a deer,” Waters said.
