The Bourne firefighters union says it doesn’t want to wait until July to get rid of outgoing fire chief Normal Sylvester Jr.

According to MassLive.com, the union held a no-confidence vote earlier this month and sent the town a letter stating its desire to remove chief Sylvester.

The union says the chief returned $7,000 that was supposed to go to a firefighter education fund back to the state.

The union claims the chief has also “lowered the bar” when it comes to training and other regulations.

Chief Sylvester will retire on July 5th.
