A West Virginia man is being held in jail after an alcohol-fueled crash that ultimately ended in the headbutting of a firefighter.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department took 46-year-old John Caldwell Farley Jr., into custody after he reportedly attacked a firefighter following a drunken hit-and-run incident.
Farley was driving on Sunday evening when he rolled his vehicle, prompting bystanders to call 911 and resulting in firefighters heading to the scene. During the call, first responders were told that Farley was fleeing the scene.
En-route to the crash, the Danese Fire Department crew noticed Farley running down the road. What they stopped to check on him, Farley -who reeked of alcohol- became combative and headbutted one of the firefighters.
According to the Register-Herald, Farley was eventually detained and blew a 0.137 on a breathalyzer. He admitted to being drunk.
In the end, Farley was charged with four misdemeanors: driving under the influence, leaving the scene, failure to maintain control and battery on emergency service personnel. He is currently sitting in the Southern Regional Jail.
