A man was arrested Friday for pretending to be a city fire inspector in order to gain access to the University of Texas at San Antonio, according to an affidavit.

Michael Anthony Horton, 29, was charged with impersonating a public servant.

Staff at UTSA told police earlier this month that Horton was on the campus with fire department badges and claimed he was inspecting fire extinguishers.

The school staff was suspicious and when staffers asked him for his city identification, Horton said he had left it in his car. He told staff he would go out and get the documents and then did not returned.

The San Antonio Fire Department later confirmed that the two SAFD badges Horton had were fake.
