First responders from Lousiana gathered to pay respects to a terminally ill child who was placed in hospice care, singing Chistmas carols.

On Wednesday, members of the Slidell Police, St. Tammany Fire Protection District, Louisiana State Police and St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office gathered around the home of Mason Perez, a 5-year-old boy who is not expected to survive his battle with brain cancer.

According to a statement by SPD, Perez loved anything that had lights and sirens, and after finding out about the situation, first responders from around the area brought every light they could pack into the residential street, singing Christmas carols.

While Perez reportedly slept most of the day, his parents say he woke up to admire the lights and sounds.
