A California man was spotted running into a fire to save his family dog- and the video footage of his heroism will warm your heart.
While Jose Guzman lost most of his material possessions when his Pala home caught fire, he managed to save Gabanna, his Pit Bull Terrier, from a fiery death.
The construction worker and landscaper was filmed as he ran past firefighters and into his home, where he found Gabanna hiding in a corner.
Sustaining burns on his face and arms, Guzman made his way out with Gabanna, who suffered minor burns as well.
Still, he’d do it all again if he had to.
“She’s been with us forever,” he told KUSI. “She’s part of the family. We love her.”
Guzman, his wife, and his three daughters and Gabanna have been displaced since the fire, but a crowdfunding account has been set up on their behalf, raising nearly $18,893 of their $20,000 goal in less than two days.
