Georgia fire crews rescue driver after SUV rolls off parking deck

Atlanta fire crews have rescued a driver who was in her SUV when the vehicle went over the side of a Buckhead parking garage Wednesday.

The incident occurred about noon at a deck near the Target in the 3500 block of Peachtree Road, the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department said in a tweet.

A photo posted to the department’s Twitter page appears to show a firefighter speaking with the driver, who was wedged between the parking spot and a wall before authorities freed her.

Crews secured the SUV so it wouldn’t move, allowing the woman to get out of her vehicle and climb down a ladder, Atlanta fire spokesman Sgt. Cortez Stafford said. The entire incident took about 20 minutes.

Authorities are still working to determine what went wrong.

“I do not have the details about how she ended up in this predicament,” Stafford said.
