Four firefighters in Indianapolis have suffered minor injuries after their fire truck was struck by an alleged drunk driver on Sunday night.

The truck was struck head-on by an oncoming Chrysler 300, despite the fact that the truck had lights and sirens activated.

According to the Indy Star, the force of the crash was so strong, the truck continued to roll for about two blocks before it crashed into a concrete barrier.

Indianapolis Fire Department Battalion Chief Rita Reith reported that four firefighters were treated for bumps and bruises.

“The firefighters are shaken but extremely grateful to be relatively unscathed,” Reith said.

The driver of the car -David Bender- was taken to the hospital as well, and charged by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department for driving while intoxicated.
