A disgraced Arizona fire captain from Gilbert has been arrested on sex crimes charges.
Michael Palmatier was arrested by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday over an incident that reportedly took place while off-duty.
The fire captain reportedly engaged in sexual misconduct with a minor, indecent exposure and kidnapping.
According to AZ Family, Palmatier resigned before he was arrested.
“He had trouble I think. I thought he’d come out of it though,” said Lloyd Rott, the captain’s neighbor. “We had lunch together one day and had no problem. Why would a young fella like that be doing something like that?”
Right now, Palmatier’s 19.7 years of service and 21 years with the city of Gilbert leaves the possibility that he would receive a pension, though the issue is currently being debated.
