The 28-year-old Ocala man arrested by Florida Highway Patrol troopers on drug charges after crashing a vehicle he was driving into a fire truck and striking a firefighter has been released from the Marion County Jail.

Bail for Dominique Lamar Oliver was $19,000, and it was posted at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday.

Found inside a black book bag that was in the Ford Focus Oliver was driving were 39 Xanax bars, 27 Adderall pills; amphetamine and dexamphetamine pills, 1.7 grams of marijuana, .004 grams of an unknown white powdery substance, a plastic container that had more white powdery substance, $250 in cash, a digital scale and two cellphones . The white powdery substance will be sent to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for testing and identification, troopers said.

While interviewing Oliver after the crash, troopers said they smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the bag that was next to Oliver.

Marion County Fire Rescue Driver/Engineer Brendan Rooney was struck by the car when he was standing at the side of the fire truck. The veteran employee went to the truck to get equipment so they could extricate a pregnant woman from an earlier crash.

Witnesses said Oliver’s vehicle slammed into the back of the fire truck along County Road 326. Troopers cited Oliver for the crash. Rooney was treated and later released from a local hospital.
