A Florida firefighter was airlifted to a nearby hospital after he fell out off his fire engine and sustained a head injury.

The Hillsborough County Fire Department said the incident took place on Tuesday evening as the firefighter was responding to a call.

“As far as we know there was no criminal activity involved in this,” Hillsborough County Fire Rescue spokesperson Eric Seidel said. “This was strictly an accident.”

According to WTSP, the nonfatal injuries may have resulted from a faulty door latch and seatbelt on the fire truck.

Witnesses report the firefighter taking quite a tumble.

“He took an airborne shot it appeared on his shoulder,” said witness John Sauber. “He flew into it right. I hope he’s okay. That was very whoa.”

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is also conducting their own traffic investigation.
