Seven firefighters suffered minor injuries during a long, hot battle against a slow, smoky fire at San Antonio’s old Lone Star Brewery. One firefighter was hospitalized with a shoulder injury incurred fighting yesterday’s day-long battle. The six other firefighters were treated for heat-related illnesses.
Workers were removing old equipment from the abandoned brewery just south of downtown San Antonio when the fire broke out. A fire department spokesman say a propane torch apparently touched off exposed cork insulation within the concrete walls.
