A Tennessee firefighter in Chattanooga was spotted cradling an infant after rescuing her from a car wreck.

CFD Captain Chris Blazek had just come off of a house fire call Saturday when he was re-routed to the scene of an accident.

After arriving on the scene, Blazek found a pregnant mother with three young daughters in the back seat.

“The mother was hysterical because she was having abdominal and back pain,” he recounted, noting that the youngest girl -only four months into the world- was screaming.

Checking the child over, Blazek determined she was only upset from the incident and decided to calm her down.

“She immediately laid her head on my shoulder,” he said. “Shortly after that I decided that my guys had the scene under control, so I decided to sit and take a break with my new friend. She immediately fell asleep in my arms.”

Firefighter Kyle Vradenburgh took the photo, which was posted to the CFD Facebook

“It’s moments like this, that I am reminded, this is why I do the job,” the Captain said.

According to the Daily Mail, the crew transported the mother to the hospital but stayed with the kids until relatives could relieve them.
