A recently-fired restaurant worker in Maryland set fire to her former place of employment yesterday morning, damaging several businesses.
26-year-old Jessica Marie Poole allegedly set fire to Al’s Country Kitchen in downtown Upper Marlboro, having been recently terminated from her position.
The Prince George’s County Fire Department responded shortly after the fire started.
“I commend the firefighters that battled this difficult fire and to our fire investigators and law enforcement officers for determining the cause, identifying a suspect and ensuring the suspect was arrested,” PGC Fire Chief Benjamin Barksdale told NBC4. “I would also like to acknowledge our County Police Department for making the arrest and to the Anne Arundel County Fire and Police Departments for assisting in this investigation.”
The fire caused about $250,000 in damages and resulted in one firefighter being pulled off-duty for heat exhaustion. Five people were evacuated from the fire without injury.
Poole was later arrested and charged with arson and reckless endangerment
