At least one person was killed Sunday afternoon when a crane collapsed into a Dallas apartment building, officials said.
A heavy storm blew the construction crane into the five-story Elan City Lights building downtown, hitting the apartments and a nearby parking garage.
At least two people were critically injured, said WFAA. Four others were reported less seriously hurt.
Search-and-rescue and hazardous material teams were called to the scene for assistance.
“I saw that the crane had actually fell straight through the building and had destroyed a good eight to 10 apartments and so there’s like floors and stuff falling through,” resident Isaiah Allen told the Dallas Morning News.
The dead woman was found in one of the apartments, authorities said.
Gusts reached as high as 71 mph in Dallas Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
Dallas Love Field Airport, a few miles northwest of downtown, reported a temporary power outage at the terminal and some off-site buildings.
A Southwest Airlines maintenance hangar lost part of its roof and a hangar door, said WFAA.
