An 81-year-old-man who was rescued from the top floor of a Manhattan building has been reunited with the FDNY firefighters who saved his life.
Octogenarian and Manhattan resident Jim Duffy was pleased to meet his rescuers on Thursday, who helped bring him down from his burning fifth-floor apartment.
“I’m glad I’m here, thanks to the brave firefighters,” Duffy said.
Duffy recounts being rescued when firefighter James Lee came to his aid.
“I was looking out the window, and people were saying, ‘He’s coming, he’s coming,'” he said. “And then I saw him, and I said, ‘Thank God, he’s an angel.'”

Lee knew that when the moment presented itself, he would have to spring into action.
“I had to grab him out and just held onto him,” Lee said. “Because he was calm and did what I told him, it was a very successful operation.”
According to ABC7, Duffy was praised by Lee at the event on Thursday, which was held at the nursing center where Duffy recovered from his injuries.
All in all, Lee is just happy Duffy survived.
“He’s been on the earth for many years, and hopefully for many more after that night,” Lee said.
