8 firefighters injured battling a two-alarm fire on Staten Island

Staten Island, N.Y. — Six firefighters were injured — two seriously — battling a two-alarm fire at a home in Westerleigh Thursday morning, according to an FDNY spokesman.

The fire was reported at 8:36 a.m. on the second floor of a three-story home at 415 Livermore Ave., near Casewell Avenue, the FDNY spokesman said.

There was a massive Fire Department presence at the scene, with 25 units and 106 firefighters on hand.

The fire was brought under control around 9:55 a.m., according to the FDNY on Twitter, but several firefighters were hurt.
