A baseball player who hung up his team cap for a fire helmet in 2009, Former Saint Louis Cardinals pitcher Anthony Reyes walked away from his World Series-winning career and joined the fire service in California, following in his father’s footsteps.

In March 2017, he posted a photo with his family after graduating the fire academy. Now, as wildfires rage California, Reyes is bringing the heat to the flame once again.

According to the Cardinals MagazineEx St Louis social media outlet, Reyes is on the front lines fighting the California wildfires, with 70mph gusts on his shift last night.
