PA House Fire Leaves One In Burn Center
January 20, 2014

Pennsylvania - A Penbrook man was flown to the burn unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital near Allentown after his home caught fire in the 2800 block of Penbrook Avenue Sunday afternoon. Police have not released the identities of those injured in the fire, but the man was severely burned, and two other family members were hospitalized following the blaze that broke out at about 3:50 p.m., according to the Penbrook Police Department.

The fire originated in the basement, and crews were able to contain and extinguish it within 10 minutes of arriving on the scene, said Penbrook Fire Department Chief Jason Musser.

It’s unclear how the fire started. The incident is under investigation, Musser said.

The basement and first floor of the home sustained smoke damage. The home did not appear to be a total loss, however, Musser said.

Family members temporarily displaced by the fire are staying with relatives throughout Harrisburg-area, according to Musser.

No firefighters were injured in the fire.
