Rocky Mount NC Fire Fighters Battle Large Dwelling Fire

North Carolina - Shortly before 4:30 p.m. on August 19, 2013 Rocky Mount NC Fire Department responded to a dwelling fire on the 1100 block of Royal Ridge Drive. Engine Co. 3 was first in and reported a working fire in a large three story dwelling ( Over 6300 square feet ). Four of the occupants fled the dwelling before firefighters arrived. They reported that there was a fire on the second floor in the rear of the home. Members of Engine Co 3 advanced a line to the second floor trying to make an aggressive interior attack. They were driven out due to deteriorating fire conditions. Firefighters were forced to make an exterior attack at the rear of the dwelling. They had most of the fire knocked down within 30 minutes. The blaze seemed to be contained to the attic and part of the second floor. Firefighters remained on the scene performing overhaul and extinguishing hot spots. There were no reported injuries to firefighters or civilians. Nash County EMS Unit was also on location. The fire is being investigated by the Rocky Mount Fire Marshal's Office. Units responding were Engine 3, 4, and 6 along with Ladder 10 and 30. Squad 2 and Battalions 1 and 2 also responded.
