Emergency crews from throughout the area came out Thursday to bid a final farewell to longtime Ashley Fire Chief Joe McGlynn. Following funeral services, McGlynn’s flag-draped casket was escorted atop an Ashley fire truck to St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hanover Twp., where he was laid to rest.

McGlynn, 63, who had served with the fire department since 1973, died suddenly on Sunday. Aside from being fire chief, McGlynn was a sitting councilman in Ashley and also served 35 years on the borough’s police force.
