Weekend Fire Damages Building At Pinal Airpark
United States (Arizona) - A fire that caused an estimated $400,000 in damage to a building at Marana Aerospace Solutions over the weekend remains under investigation. The building in the Pinal Airpark, was used as an employee's break room and storage for the mechanic's tools. It was a total loss, said Chief Brian Delfs of the Avra Valley Fire District. Structure damage was estimated at $300,000, and contents lost was estimated at $100,000.

Units from the Avra Valley Fire District, Northwest Fire District and Silverbell Army Heliport Fire Department arrived at the scene just before 11 p.m. Friday.

"Once on scene, units found a building with smoke and flames billowing from the roof of the structure," said Patrick Calhoun, spokesman for the Avra Valley Fire. "Firefighters entered the building and had to extinguish the flames which were in the attic space of the structure. In order to stop the spread of the fire throughout the rest of the structure firefighters had to pull ceiling materials to get to the fire."

It took 20 firefighters about 50 minutes to bring the fire under control.

Nobody was inside the structure at the time of the fire, which is still under investigation.
