Apartment Blaze Hurts Two Residents And Two Firefighters
United States (Missouri) - A three-alarm fire swept through a Kansas City apartment building early Friday, injuring two residents and two firefighters. The two residents suffered smoke inhalation. One was seriously injured. One firefighter had heat exhaustion and the other suffered a dislocated elbow.

Firefighters went shortly before midnight to 619 Prospect Ave. The two-story building has a business on the first floor and apartments behind the business and on the second floor.

Because of the size of the structure, a third alarm was sounded.

"We wanted to contain the fire and not allow it to spread," said Battalion Chief James Garrett. "They did a good job from keeping it from spreading."

Seven people, including the two who were injured, were displaced.
