Firefighters went shortly before midnight to 619 Prospect Ave. The two-story building has a business on the first floor and apartments behind the business and on the second floor.
Because of the size of the structure, a third alarm was sounded.
"We wanted to contain the fire and not allow it to spread," said Battalion Chief James Garrett. "They did a good job from keeping it from spreading."
Seven people, including the two who were injured, were displaced.
