Two Juveniles Arrested For Cohoes Fire
United States (New York) -
Fire ripped through a vacant two-story building at 177 Main Street in Cohoes on April 21st. When the first crews arrived, the rear of the structure was fully involved, prompting immediate calls for mutual aid from Green Island Fire Department and Troy Fire Department. Although the building was destroyed, crews were able to keep the fire from spreading to neighboring buildings just a few feet away.
One firefighter suffered shoulder and ankle injury fighting the blaze, but no other injuries were reported. An investigation determined the fire was intentionally set in a rear hallway between the fist and second floors.
Police arrested two juveniles, ages 12 and 14, and charged them with arson and assault. Police say the 14-year-old has a history of arson and admitted they used paper and debris they found inside the building to set the fire.
