Shortly before 10:30 a.m., technical rescue experts with the Fire Department had attached a line to the man and were trying to stabilize the peanuts around him, George said. She did not know the extent of the man's injuries, but he was talking with rescuers.
Technical rescue experts with the Virginia Beach Fire Department were at the scene assisting, George said.
She initially said the tank was believed to be 100 feet tall but later revised the estimate to 50 feet. The tank was nearly full.
