United States (New York) - Firefighters from Cortland, Cortlandville, Homer and Dryden battled a stubborn fire at 120 Main Street Tuesday morning April 11. The alarm came in at 7:20 and quickly turned into the four department blaze. The three story building was part of the historic downtown Cortland block and was best known for its clock tower.

The tower was home to a lighted ball that has been dropped for a News Years Celebration for the past several years. The first floor contained several businesses including a pizza place, photo studio, shoe store, hair salon, and game store. The second and third floors contained offices and apartments.

The roof and rear wall of the structure collapsed causing further challenges in fighting the blaze.
