Fire hydrants near the university farm were frozen, forcing firefighters to fill tanker trucks at hydrants up to half a mile away -- at Emerald Estates on Kingwood Pike, and near BB&T, on W.Va. 7.
Firefighters were on scene from about 12:30-6:30 p.m. The fire rekindled just after 8 p.m. but firefighters quickly put it back out. The building was a total loss.
Damages were estimated at about $200,000, according to Reedsville Fire Chief Scott Spiker. There were tools and equipment inside the building, but no trucks.
