Driver Crashes Car, Punches Miami Firefighter Trying To Help Him
United States (Florida) - A driver lost control of his car, crashed into a Miami building and then punched a firefighter trying to treat him, fire officials said. The man was driving south on Northwest 12th Avenue when he lost control, hitting another car and sending his car spinning, said Lt. Ignatius Carroll, a Miami Fire Rescue spokesman.

His Infiniti slammed into a storage unit outside a building at Northwest 12th Avenue and 24th Street about 8:30 a.m.

"When fire rescue arrived, the man was very combative with the firefighters," Carroll said. The man punched one firefighter.

"It took seven firefighters to gain control of the individual," Carroll said. "He may have some kind of underlying medical problem that caused him to have this accident and be unaware of his surroundings and what was taking place."

The man, thought to be in his 30s, was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the car he hit was not injured.

The building had minimal damage.
