Mascot Trailer Fire Kills One
United States (Tennessee) - Despite the efforts of Rural/Metro firefighters who entered a burning residence to rescue him, a man died in a Mascot mobile home blaze. The blaze at 3008 Grove Road in Northeast Knox County was reported at 8:31 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Rural/Metro fire department.

"The first arriving engine crew found several people outside the home and stating there was someone still in the home," said Rural/Metro Lt. Bill Kear.

Despite the growing flames, firefighters entered the trailer to rescue the man still inside, Kear said.

Firefighters located the man not breathing and without a pulse in a bedroom" he said. By then, however, the flames had consumed their rescue route, so the firefighters passed the victim out through a bedroom window.

Efforts to revive the man at the scene were fruitless.

The firefighters also escaped out the same window.

"Once they got inside, there was no way to get back out the way they went in, so they went out the window," Kear said.

Kear said he was unaware of any other injuries caused by the blaze.

An investigator with the Knox County Fire Prevention Bureau was on the scene of the fire this morning searching for clues about the cause.
