Two Killed, One Hospitalized In Structure Fire
United States (New Mexico) - An early morning trailer fire left two adults dead and a child in critical condition. San Juan County Fire Department and Farmington Fire Department officials arrived at a Southside River Road residence shortly after 6:30 a.m. Tuesday to find a single-wide trailer engulfed in flames.

Firefighters, shortly after containing the blaze, discovered three bodies inside the trailer.

An adult female was found dead in the kitchen and an adult male was found dead in the living room.

Paramedics were able to revive a girl, about 10 years old, who was found in one of the bedrooms. She was taken to San Juan Regional Medical Center and later flown to Albuquerque for treatment.

No names were being released until officials notify the victims' next-of-kin. Officials hope to notify family members and release the victims' names today.

It's possible that not all of the victims lived in the trailer, Farmington Fire Department Battalion Chief Nick Mrzlak said.

Officials do not think anyone else was in the trailer when the fire started.

By 10 a.m., the smoke cleared and all that remained was a perimeter set up by the Farmington Police Department to give investigators space to work.

Officials still are investigating the cause of the structure fire.

"The most probable possibility at this point is an electrical problem in the east end bedroom, but we're still investigating and that may change," said Herb Veazey, fire marshal with the Fire Department.

Fire officials have not located any smoke detectors in the trailer.

"Traditionally, it's more common to see more structure fires when it first starts getting cold and people are turning on heaters and using fire places for first time," Veazey said.

But officials do not believe this fire is heater-related.

"There's a distinct possibility there was an electrical problem," Veazey said.
