Two KCK Firefighters Hurt Fighting Blaze At Vacant House
United States (Missouri) - Two Kansas City, Kan. firefighters suffered minor injuries while fighting a fire at a vacant house early this morning. The firefighters were treated at a hospital and released. One had injured a knee while the other an injured a shoulder, according to the fire department.

They were injured while fighting a fire that broke out about 2 a.m. Saturday at a two-story, wood frame vacant house in the 2200 Block of South Mill Street.

The first crews on the scene reported that the house was fully involved. There were downed power lines in the yard. Firefighters fought the fire in a defensive mode, trying to limit damage to houses on either side, according to the fire department

The fire caused an estimated $50,000 in damages to the vacant house and it was declared a total loss. The fire also caused $1,000 in damages each to houses on either side of the vacant house.

A fire investigator was called to the scene who ruled the fire was unintentional.
