The fire is located in the mansion at the resort, deputies reported. The 100-year-old mansion is set near the beach and docks on the resort property.
Deputies described the fire as major but no injuries had been reported. Additional details about the fire and the departments responding to the lakeside blaze were not immediately available.
Capri Village is at 3926 Lake Shore Drive, also known as Route 9N. The resort is situated between Diamond Point and Bolton Landing.
A woman who answered the telephone at the resort office when asked about the fire said, "Call back later." She then hung up the phone.
The blaze broke out at the start of the Lake George summer season. This was the first weekend for the traditional vacation area which draws visitors from the Capital Region and metropolitan New York City.
Running through Labor Day, the summer season is the heart of the Lake George economy.
Capri Village has motel rooms, lakeside suites and housekeeping units, according to the resort's Web site.
While resorts such as Capri Village dot the lake's western shore, the area between Diamond Point and Bolton Landing also is where multi-million dollar properties are located.
