The preliminary cause of the structure fire was a grass fire that was running along a fence line and caught the leaves on fire traveling to the structure. Along with the storage shed and mobile home, there was two other homes within proximity of the grass fire that were also in danger. Tanker One and Rescue One and other personnel arrived on scene shortly behind Medic Four and quickly extinguished the fire and overhaul within 40 minutes.
While fire department personnel were completing the overhaul, Medic Four and Rescue One were released from the scene. In route to the station, South Bossier Fire received a second page to a grass fire on Hwy 527 with another structure in danger. South Bossier Fire Rescue One and Bossier Parish EMS Medic Four were the first arriving units to find a quickly spreading grass fire. The fire was spreading rapidly toward the mobile home and was already under the back porch. Rescue One personnel, with the assistance of Medic Four personnel and Bossier Parish Sheriff Officers, quickly began attempting to extinguish the fire while the responding Engines, Tankers, and Grass Truck were in route. Personnel from Rescue One used a house broom and rakes to try and extinguish the fire under the porch until the water apparatuses arrived. Lucky, with a quick response, the mobile home from the second fire did not sustain any damage. The mobile home on Hwy 527 was without water as their well was broke.
