Two Critical After Fire Engine Crash
United Kingdom - Two people are in a critical condition in hospital after a crash involving a fire engine which was responding to an emergency. The crash happened on the A361 as the appliance made its way to another collision in which a man died after the car he was in crashed into a tree. En route, it collided with a Renault Scenic carrying three people, at West Pennard, Somerset.

Police said yesterday that the front seat passenger, a man in his 80s, remained in Frenchay Hospital, Bristol, in a critical condition. The driver, a man in his 50s, was also in the hospital in a critical condition yesterday, although police said his condition was less serious. A female passenger, also in her 50s, and a firefighter were also hurt during the collision and received hospital treatment, but their injuries were described as not serious.

A police spokesman said they were investigating the incident and would like to speak to anyone who saw the crash. They are also appealing for witnesses to the earlier crash, in which a 28-year- old man died and a woman and child were injured when their grey Volvo estate crashed into a tree between Shepton Mallet and Pilton.
