United States (Massachusetts) - It was an early morning fire on January 16 that rose to 3 alarms very quickly. It was the second 3 alarm fire in as many days for Reading Firefighters. On arrival companies found heavy fire on the second floor of a 2 1/2 story commercial structure. The fire quickly took control of the cockloft and eventually through the roof. With the use of several big hand lines and ladder pipes, the fire was brought under control within 2 hours.

Companies remained on the scene for several hours to douse hot spots. A cause for the fire has yet to be determined.

Reading Firefighters were helped on the scene by mutual aid companies from North Reading, Wilmington, Woburn, Lynnfield, Stoneham, Wakefield and Burlington.

Engine companies from Melose and Winchester, and a tower ladder from Lynnfield covered Readings 2 stations during the fire.
