Exploding Kia On Busy Manhattan Street
The Kia erupted in flames near the intersection of 1st Ave. and East 38th St. in Kips Bay early Thursday evening. Ten firefighters took an hour to quench the blaze. A malfunctioning Kia SUV exploded into flames on the side of a busy Manhattan street amid hordes of horrified onlookers Thursday evening, authorities said.
The car was near First Ave. and E. 38th St. in Kips Bay when it burst into a fireball around 5:15 p.m., officials said.

Firefighters raced to the scene to battle the car fire a short while after the flames consumed the car, according to officials.

It took 10 smoke eaters almost an hour to put the blaze out, fire officials said.

No one was injured in the fire.
