United States (California) - On Thursday, January 30, 2014, at 1101 hours, San Jose Fire Fighters responded to reports of a mobile home fire at 417 Los Encinos Avenue inside the Westwinds Mobile Home Park in north San Jose. The first unit on scene, Engine Company 25, reported heavy brown smoke showing from the coach. The crew immediately initiated offensive operations stretching an attack line to the interior and knocking down the majority of the fire. During extinguishment the crew discovered one occupant with no vital signs. CPR was started and a pulse established. The victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. An additional search led to the discovery of an unresponsive dog in the kitchen of the structure. After removing the dog firefighters began working to resuscitate the animal and were successful in their efforts. One firefighter suffered a minor knee injury after falling through a compromised floor inside the structure. San José Fire Department units assigned to this incident: Battalion 29, Battalion 1, Med 30, 4A10 Engine 25, Engine 23, Engine 5 Truck 29, Truck 1, Squad 30
