Cigarette Adds Fire To Houston Taco Bell
A discarded cigarette is to blame for a fire Thursday afternoon that damaged a fast-food eatery in west Harris County.
The blaze broke out about 2:30 p.m. at a Taco Bell in the 600 block of S. Mason in the Katy area, according to the Harris County Fire Marshal's Office.
Officials said when firefighters arrived they found heavy flames shooting from the roof of the building. They gained the upper hand on the blaze a short time later.
No injuries were reported, though two employees with anxiety were taken to a nearby hospital. Their conditions were not released.
Investigators said a cigarette tossed into a flower bed of mulch beside the building sparked the flames.
