Police Chase Arson Suspect, Firefighter Struck By Vehicle
Fort Worth police have apparently just used a stun gun on a shirtless man who was trying to evade them in a black pickup. A helicopter for WFAA-TV (Channel 8) has been following the action. The man eventually went off road shortly after 5 p.m. and got out of his pickup. He picked up a green bag out of the bed of his pickup before officers surrounded him.
The chase started after the man tried to burn his house down and threatened his wife with knives, police said. The man then drove right through his garage door with his pickup. Police said the man hit a firefighter while leaving his home in the 1100 block of Trinidad Drive. The firefighter was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
The chase ended after the pickup went off road at a dead end off Glasgow Road near Interstate 20 and Interstate 35-W. The suspect has been identified as Michael Pierce, 37.
