Burning Tires Bring Firefighters To Weisenberg Junkyard
United States (Pennsylvania) -

Fire companies rushed to a western Lehigh County junkyard Monday night when a tire fire broke out, sending up flames and thick clouds of smoke, according to police radio reports. The fire at the Walbert Contracting junkyard on Schoolhouse Road, west of Route 863 in Weisenberg Township, started about 9:40 p.m.

Callers told county dispatchers they weren't sure whether a building also was on fire. When firefighters arrived, they reported the blaze was confined to a large bin and did not threaten buildings.

The junkyard is south of Interstate 78, about 5 miles west of Fogelsville. Firefighters remained at the scene at 10:30 p.m.
