Firefighters Extinguish Blaze At Home With More Than 300 Marijuana Plants
United States (California) -

A small fire broke out late Sunday night in a San Jose home filled with more than 300 marijuana plants, according to the fire and police departments. The single-alarm blaze was reported at 11:45 p.m. when a neighbor saw smoke coming from the garage of a home in the 500 block of Scottsville Court, according to fire Capt. Reggie Williams.

Firefighters forced their way into the garage and quickly extinguished a small blaze. The electrical meter had been bypassed, which likely caused the fire, Williams said.

Once inside the home, firefighters discovered multiple marijuana plants. The house had been reinforced with plywood over the doors and windows.

There were no injuries associated with the

fire.

The San Jose Police Department responded to the home and seized between 300 and 400 plants and an elaborate grow system, according to Officer Albert Morales, a police spokesman. Morales described the operation as an "illegal grow house" and said there are no suspects at this time.
