Five Alarm Fire At Chicago Warehouse
United States (Illinois) -
About 170 firefighters from 50 fire companies Tuesday responded to a blaze in a vacant five-story warehouse on Chicago's South Side, officials said. The Chicago Fire Department's Office of News Affairs said one-third of the city's fire apparatus was on the scene at the 3700 block of South Ashland Avenue in Bridgeport at about 10 p.m., WLS-TV, Chicago, reported.
The fire was classified as a "511" fire plus a special alarm for more fire trucks, the Fire Department said.
"This will be an extended operation. No injuries so far. 511 plus special is extremely rare," the department's media affairs office said on Twitter.
The rear part of the vacant building had collapsed, but there were no injuries as of 10 p.m., the TV station said.
