San Jose Apartment Fire Leaves Three Dead
On Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 11:10 PM, the San Jose Fire Department responded to multiple reports of people trapped in a burning apartment building at 3679 Bridgeport Court. Upon the arrival of the first due Engine and Truck companies, firefighters confirmed a working fire with people trapped on the second floor of a two story multiple family dwelling. An aggressive rescue and evacuation effort was initiated as additional resources were summoned to the scene. Tragically, three people perished in the fire. Three others, including a San Jose police officer that assisted in a rescue, were transported to local hospitals for smoke inhalation. Approximately 60 people were displaced by the blaze with many being assisted by the Red Cross.
