Firefighter Injured Sunday While Battling Fire In The Lake Valley Neighborhood
A firefighter was injured Sunday while battling a fire that heavily damaged a home in the Lake Valley neighborhood off Yadkin Road near the All American Freeway. The fire at 1715 Valley Ridge Drive was reported at 5:51 p.m., according to a release from the Fayetteville Fire Department. Flames and smoke were coming from the roof of the two-story home when firefighters arrived.

The firefighter, who was not identified, was hurt when he fell from a ladder, said Battalion Chief Ron Lewis, a Fire Department spokesman. The firefighter was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he was treated and released.

It took about 25 minutes to get the fire, which was in the roof and attic, under control, according to the release. Damage was estimated at $25,000.

The cause of the fire has not been determined, the release said.

The resident of the house, who was not identified, was not hurt and declined assistance from the Red Cross, the release said.

The homeowner is Eunice R. White, according to Cumberland County tax records.
