Four Fire Departments Battle Lubbock Warehouse Blaze
Four fire departments battled a fire at a Three B Brushes MFG warehouse just off U.S. 87 and 82nd Street on Tuesday evening. Lt. Chris Hixson of the Woodrow Fire Department said the call came around 6:30 or 7 p.m. When crews arrived at the scene, the fire outside the building was "well involved."

Hixson said the fire might have started on a dock on the west side of the building and moved into the structure. He said the fire was contained at the west end.

"It's got plastic, cardboard and rubber inside," said Wesley Boone, chief of the Woodrow Fire Department "We don't know how it started."

Hixson said the Woodrow, Buffalo Springs Lake, Wolfforth and Lubbock fire departments each had multiple units involved at the scene.

Vicki Applegate, an observer, said a company she used to work for worked with Three B Brushes. She said she stopped by the scene to see which building was on fire.

Applegate said she stopped by earlier in the afternoon and smelled smoke. She believes the fire was burning for a while before anybody became aware.

Hixson said nobody was injured or inside at the time of the fire.

EMS crews responded to supply IV bags for firefighters because of loss of fluids. Hixson said the procedure is a normal precaution, and everybody was safe.

Shortly after 9 p.m., he said the fire was mostly extinguished and the crews were dealing with hot spots.

Units were still being called to the scene for overhaul.
